Getting things in order for the Open House

October 10, 2009

8:30 am to 2:30 pm

This sign at 311 Lake Road in Burbank now marks the entrance to McNary Education Center.

The kiosk in front of the building was designed by artists in the Portland office with information about McNary NWR and other Refuges nationwide.

Installing the kiosk was no small undertaking. High tech equipment was brought in to do the job.

Panels by Jennie Rieke were installed in the Discovery Room showing the diverse habitats on McNary National Wildlife Refuge.

Benches constructed by Dale Litzenberger for classes in the basement of the first Education Building were retrieved from storage and cleaned.

Two of the benches will hold items for examination by the young visitors.

One of the best known mammals in the United States is the Striped Skunk. An ominvore, it eats mice and insects. See this new mount in the Discovery Room.

Jaynee Levy, USFW Ranger, reviews the displays for the Grand Opening.
